Milky Brother Foundation

Milky Brother Foundation was established with the profound conviction that culture remains truly alive only when it is articulated through its own unique language—be it through images, words, gestures, or shared human experiences.
Operating at the intersection of art, history, research, and education, the Foundation specializes in film, photography, and literary translation. A core pillar of our mission is the preservation and promotion of Armenian heritage, as well as the translation of literature from minority languages. We prioritize direct translation from original sources, reintroducing texts to the Polish literary landscape that have long remained on the periphery of mainstream awareness. For the Foundation, translation is more than a linguistic exercise; it is a vital act of opening doors to worlds that, while seemingly distant, are inextricably linked to our own.
In the realm of visual arts, the Foundation produces documentary films and photographic projects that address essential questions of identity, memory, and community. We focus on narratives often overlooked by dominant historical accounts, creating works that examine the intimate relationship between individuals and their heritage.
Our overarching mission is to redefine the perception of Armenian culture as a vibrant, integral part of the European tapestry—a culture that has co-authored European history for centuries through dialogue and mutual influence, rather than existing as something “exotic” or “remote.” At the heart of The Milk Brother Foundation lies the cultural encounter: the exploration of common roots, shared meanings, and the continuous intertwining of Eastern European traditions.

Literature That Forms into Frames

“From Word to Image” is a series that treats literature as the vital impulse from which the visual is born. We reach for contemporary Armenian prose in its original resonance, translating directly from the source before anything can be adapted, simplified, or lost in interpretation. We believe that a single short story has the power to unlock an entire world. This series is an invitation to a journey where the word leads to the image, and the image leads back to the story.

We translate the world into the language of film-from word to image, from history to memory.

The Foundation is dedicated to the creation and production of documentary and narrative films inspired by the culture, history, and contemporary life of Armenia and its neighbour countries. We manage translation, artistic, and educational projects that bridge the worlds of literature, cinema, photography, and exhibition practices.
